We are delighted to share the success of a recent two-day Capacity Development for Rubber Farmers conducted by the Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) through its extension arm, the Rubber Technology Extension Division (RTESD). This initiative, held at Jackies’ Hotel and Restaurant on December 6-7, 2023, was part of the resolute mandate from our Executive Director, Dr. Cheryl Lazaga Eusala in order to address the spread of Pestalotiopsis Leaf Fall Disease (PLFD).

The first day of the program witnessed remarkable success, marked by informative sessions and engaging discussions. Engr. Evangeline Garcia, Chief of RTESD, delivered a warm opening address on behalf of Director Cheryl Eusala. The encouraging words from Mr. Edgar Apao, the Municipal Agriculturist Officer of Ipil, further added inspiration to the event.

The lecture proper was conducted by Mr. Meynard Abello, focusing on the management of PLFD. The participants gained valuable insights into effective disease management strategies, equipping them with the knowledge needed for sustainable and thriving rubber farming.

The second day of the program took participants to the field in Guituan, Ipil, where they actively participated in the identification of rubber pests and diseases. The practical aspect of the training allowed farmers to enhance their skills in recognizing potential issues and implementing appropriate management practices.

The participants expressed their appreciation for the comprehensive training provided by PRRI. The information shared was not only enlightening but also practical, empowering them to apply these learnings in their day-to-day farming activities.

At PRRI, we remain steadfast in our commitment to empowering rubber farmers, and this event is a testament to our ongoing efforts to enhance the capabilities of those at the forefront of the rubber industry.

We extend our gratitude to all participants, speakers, and organizers who contributed to the success of this program. Together, let us continue cultivating knowledge, fostering growth, and building a resilient rubber industry for a brighter future.
