MAHAYAG, ZDS, January 29-30, 2024 ||  Dr. Girlie Saludo, Officer-In-Charge of Philippine Rubber Research Institute – Rubber Technology and Extension Services (PRRI- RTESD) contributed to developing a roadmap for agricultural extension services in the Philippines. The event was led by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) which took place at Rudill’s Resort in Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur.

During this two-day event, there were regional consultations and focus group discussions (FGDs). Its main purpose is to identify the training needs of extension workers. Attendees included representatives from various departments, including the Department of Agriculture’s Regional Field Office 9 (DA-RFO9), the Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP), and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), among others.

Dr. Saludo shared updates on PRRI and its ongoing projects and programs in shaping the roadmap to help ensure that the extension services in PRRI are effectively being implemented to support rubber farmers and stakeholders in the region.

This roadmap development holds great promise for the rubber farming community, empowering farmers and enhancing their skills. With these improvements, we can look forward to a brighter future and a thriving livelihood for all, moving towards a “GOMa-gaang buhay!”
