Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay || The Philippine Rubber Research Institute – Rubber Technology Extension Services Division (PRRI-RTESD), facilitated by Mr. Nerio Alap-ap, and Mr. Mark Sozem D. Suello, recently conducted a tapping management training to the Pantawid Pamilya Program (4Ps) beneficiaries on October 15, 2024.
The Municipality of Kabasalan is one of the major producers of raw rubber in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, and most of the Pantawid Pamilya Program (4Ps) beneficiaries in Kabasalan depend on rubber farming and work as rubber tappers, however, the majority of the farmers lack the proper training and knowledge on rubber tapping resulting to damage and low production. In line with this, the Municipal Agricultural Office, headed by Ms. Miladel Capitania, Municipal Agriculturist reached out to PRRI-RTESD to conduct a capacity training aimed to help the 4Ps beneficiaries enhance their skills and knowledge on farming practices. This capacity training program was a significant step in enhancing the skills and knowledge on farming practices of local rubber farmers in the community.
