October 21-25, 2024 || The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) participated in field validation and monitoring efforts in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DA-DRRM) Section. This initiative focused on assessing plans, programs, and activities (PAPs) funded under the DA-Quick Response Fund (QRF) that target the mitigation and control of Pineapple Leaf and Fruit Disease (PLFD) in the Zamboanga Peninsula.
Field validation and monitoring activities took place across various locations, including Vitali and Naga in Zamboanga City, as well as Malangas, Kumalarang, Tigbao, Bayog, Titay, Liloy, and Leon Postigo. The initiative aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and ensure that agricultural inputs are reaching the affected communities.
Key contacts during this effort included municipal agriculturists and recipients of agricultural inputs, providing valuable insights into the local challenges faced due to PLFD. This collaborative effort underscores PRRI’s commitment to supporting local farmers and enhancing agricultural resilience in the region.
