Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – The shared vision of delivering GOMAgaang Buhay to underserved and marginalized communities, particularly those in conflict-affected areas, took a significant step forward as key institutions came together to formalize their collaboration. On August 4, 2025, Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) Executive Director Cheryl L. Eusala, and the 102nd Infantry “Igsoon” Brigade, Philippine Army Commander Brig. Gen. Randolf Rojas officially signed a Memorandum of Partnership Agreement (MOPA) at the 102nd Brigade Headquarters in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
This ceremonial signing between PRRI, and the Philippine Army symbolizes the strong partnership and collaboration between the agricultural sector, and the men in uniform in promoting peace, research and development in the rubber sector in support of their nation building efforts to the underserved and marginalized areas of Zamboanga Peninsula.
This MOPA aims to foster inclusive growth by establishing rubber-based livelihood opportunities and community empowerment programs in areas affected by armed conflict. Through this partnership, PRRI will provide capacity development trainings, high quality planting materials developed through Improved Technology. The ceremonial signing also included the unveiling of the PRRI logo on their Stakeholder’s Wall.
Executive Director Cheryl L. Eusala said in her speech that one of the main reasons why PRRI is here is because we want to help our smallholders–people in the community who are underprivileged and living in the areas that are struggling when it comes to peace. We serve not only for compliance but we aim to change the peoples’ lives. If we want peace, we have to make sure that the services we give them will eventually improve their lives and steer them away from insurgency. This time with our partnership with the 102nd Brigade, we make sure that we reach the communities that need us the most.
The MOPA stands as a beacon of hope and action—demonstrating that peace, progress, and prosperity are achievable through unified and purposeful collaboration in delivering GOMAgaang Buhay. The event was witnessed by the PIA Zamboanga Sibugay , other military troops from the peninsula, and the local media.
