The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) has conducted an assessment at the request of the Southern Tagalog Rubber Producers Cooperative (STRPC) to evaluate their rubber plantation for possible financial assistance in establishing six Village Level Processing Plants (VLPP) across six clusters in Southern Tagalog. Executive Director Dr. Cheryl Eusala responded to the request by sending a team led by Dr. Girlie Saludo and Engr. Claire Nova Abdulatip to address STRPC’s needs.

STRPC, a duly organized and existing cooperative, has been at the forefront of supporting local rubber farmers. In light of their findings, the cooperative has formally requested financial assistance to establish six Village Level Processing Plants (VLPP) across six clusters in Southern Tagalog. These processing plants are designed to enhance the production capacity of industrial-grade rubber, providing significant benefits to the local rubber farmers.

The establishment of the VLPPs is expected to not only improve the quality and efficiency of rubber processing but also create employment opportunities within the community. This initiative aligns with the broader goals of strengthening the agricultural sector and promoting sustainable livelihoods in the region.

As the PRRI continues to support the development of the rubber industry, this collaboration with STRPC represents a significant milestone in fostering community-driven agricultural advancements. The cooperativeโ€™s efforts to secure funding for the VLPPs highlight their commitment to improving the livelihoods of rubber farmers and promoting sustainable economic growth in the region.
