The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) took proactive steps to address PLFD-affected rubber farms across various municipalities in Zamboanga del Sur from February 12-15, 2024. Even before the QRF commenced, PRRI, with its limited budget, sought assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), specifically leveraging the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced (TUPAD) program. This activity was facilitated by the RTESD Team.

The collaboration between PRRI and DOLE aimed to provide aid to affected rubber farmer-workers by orienting them on the DOLE-TUPAD program and the necessary documentary requirements to claim salaries for their contributions towards mitigating PLFD in the affected rubber farms. The initiative was crucial in extending financial assistance to those adversely impacted by the agricultural crisis, particularly in the municipalities of Bayog, Lakewood, Kumalarang, Tigbao, Molave, Midsalip, and Sominot.

Through this partnership, PRRI and DOLE have truly assisted vulnerable communities and safeguarded the livelihoods of those affected by PLFD.

PRRI is more than grateful to recognize the invaluable support of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced (TUPAD) program, aiding in the mitigation efforts against the Pesta Leaf Fall Disease (PLFD) crisis in Zamboanga del Sur. Kudos!
