Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI), represented by Executive Director Cheryl L. Eusala actively participated in the 6th Meeting of the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) Technical Committee on Plant Protection on August 12, 2025. The event served as a critical platform to address the emerging challenges of pests and diseases impacting the global rubber industry.
The meeting gathered leading scientists, researchers, and technical experts from ANRPC member countries to share knowledge, recent findings, and collaborative strategies in mitigating the spread of destructive pests and diseases across rubber plantations. Discussions highlighted the increasing threat of Pestalotiopsis Leaf Fall Disease (PLFD) and other infestations that jeopardize rubber production and farmers’ livelihoods worldwide, the meeting also discussed collaborative ways forward and developed resilient and sustainable action plans in combating pests and disease of rubber.
