November 5, 2024, Muntinlupa City || Dr. Jill Villanueva OIC-Chief of Crop Management Division of the Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI-CMD) and an alumna of the Graduate Research and Education Assistantship for Technology (GREAT) scholarship shares her journey under GREAT and insights on her experience with international collaboration and her expertise on rubber disease management, and its impact on her research work during the plenary session for the GREAT Completers Talk of the iGREAT convention.
The convention highlighted key players of the scholarship program to connect, share experiences, and build a network for future collaborations, her participation at the iGREAT Convention underscores PRRI’s mission to foster innovation and excellence in rubber research and development which reflects its goal towards Goma-gaang Buhay.

The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) is proud to recognize its employees who are graduates of the Graduate Research and Education Assistantship for Technology (GREAT) Program!

In the third episode of the PCAARRD Story Series, DOST-PCAARRD visited PRRI on October 8, 2024 to personally interview two remarkable personalities: Dr. Jill Villanueva and Ms. Claire Nova O. Abdulatip, both graduates of the GREAT Program. Both of their achievements serve as an inspiration to others within the organization and the broader community. Through their inspiring stories, they aim to motivate future scholars to pursue their own paths of growth and success. PRRI supports its scholars and makes sure that it provides an environment that encourages innovation and excellence among its employees.

The institute looks forward to seeing how these GREAT scholars will continue to make more impactful contributions in the agricultural community and the society as a whole.

Dr. Jill D. Villanueva of PRRI Showcases Innovative Technology at the 2024 Regional Science and Technology Week

October 2-4, 2024, General Santos City || Dr. Jill D. Villanueva, OIC-Chief of Crop Management Division of the Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI-CMD) attended the 2024 Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) at the KCC Veranza Activity Center where she showcased her innovative technology – the Intelligent Rubber Insect Pests and Disease Diagnostic (IRISDD) on the second day of the event. This technology is a product of the DOST PCAARRD-funded project “Artificial Intelligence-Based Diagnostic Clinic for Detection and Monitoring System for the Management of Rubber Diseases and Insect Pests.” The RSTW gathered scientists, researchers, and students from the SOCCSKSARGEN region for collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

PRRI proudly supports Dr. Jill D. Villanueva in her efforts to disseminate innovative technologies, such as the Intelligent Rubber Insect Pests and Disease Diagnostic (IRISDD), to benefit local communities and enhance the rubber industry.

The Philippine Rubber Research Institute participated in the Rubber Conference, where Dr. Jill D. Villanueva, OIC-Chief of the Crop Management Division, presented on behalf of Director Cheryl L. Eusala. Her presentation focused on PRRI initiatives aligned with the Bagong Pilipinas agenda, talking about Production Support Services, Research and Development, and Education and Training Services. She also discussed PRRI’s ongoing efforts to combat rubber diseases and international engagements among others. The event aimed to accelerate innovative approaches in the rubber industry and support smallholder farmers, fostering global partnerships to enhance productivity.
The rubber conference was held from September 26-28, 2024 at the Acacia Hotel in Davao City with the theme: “Rubber: New Frontiers, New Markets”, organized by the Philippine Rubber Industry Association (PRIA) in partnership with Xida Communications.
