The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) takes center stage as the host of the prestigious International Rubber Workshop on Crop Management cum Technical Meeting 2023. With an unwavering commitment to advancing the rubber industry, PRRI stands as a beacon of innovation and research excellence. Esteemed participants and honored speakers gather in Davao City to delve into the theme: “Boosting Productivity in Small Holdings and Advancing Crop Protection in the Rubber Industry.”
With the leadership of Executive Director Cheryl L. Eusala and the guidance of Datoโ Seri Dr. Abdul Aziz Kadir, the Secretary-General of the International Rubber Research and Development Board (IRRDB) the event promises to be a catalyst for transformation and progress in the rubber sector. PRRI’s efforts in promoting sustainable practices and collaborative partnerships are applauded by all attendees, who eagerly participate in the workshop.
PRRI’s pivotal role is further emphasized as Dr. Cheryl L. Eusala delivers the welcome address, setting the tone for a productive and fruitful gathering. The institute’s continuous pursuit of excellence inspire participants to actively engage in the event’s proceedings.
In behalf of Undersecretary Domingo F. Panganiban of the Department of Agriculture, Regional Executive Director Abel James Monteagudo delivered his inspiring message to the participants. In his address, he stressed the importance of government support to boost the rubber sector.
During the morning session, prominent individuals in the industry were also given plaques of recognition including Dr. Romulo Cena, Dr. Sittie Jain, Sir Rodolfo Galang, Governor Dulce Ann K. Hofer, and Senior Undersecretary Domingo F. Panganiban. Posthumous Certificate of Recognition were also given to the late Mr. Guillermo Lazaro Igot and Prof. Dr. Eugene Alcala for their contributions in rubber research development.
The event’s highlight commenced with an enlightening keynote address titled “Sustaining NR Resilience in ‘VUCA’ World โ Building Collaboration and Partnership,” delivered by the distinguished Professor Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim. As an IRRDB Fellow and Professor at UCSI University, Kuala Lumpur, Professor Ahmad Ibrahim shared invaluable insights on strategies to fortify Natural Rubber (NR) resilience in an ever-changing ‘VUCA’ (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) world.
With its emphasis on innovation and resilience, this event promises to leave an enduring impact on the rubber sector.
