DAVAO CITY || August 12-16, 2024 – The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) recently held a Capacity Development Training for Improved Rubber Production Techniques with focus on tapping management.
In Laak, Davao De Oro where the training occurred conducted by the RTESD Team led by Mr. Ariel Villar and Mr. Nerio Alap-ap who discussed some of the main challenges identified during previous evaluations. The primary aim of the training was to enhance tapping skills among rubber growers towards more productive and sustainable practices.
In his opening remarks, Municipal Agriculturist, Mr. Christopher Malayan, thanked the organizers for allowing him to conduct it and he pointed out that it is very important to train participants about proper tapping operations and also stressed that Laak is one of Region XII’s major contributors in terms of rubber production. Honorable Christopher L. Jovita, Laak SB Member delivered an inspirational message emphasizing how significant rubber farming is for the people of Laak in terms of their way of life. Also there has been a wish for rubber plantations’ expansion especially at idle lands within municipality including ancestral domain areas covering approximately 50,0000 hectares. One training kit per participant was given at the onset of the program.
