September 16, 2024, Quezon City || PRRI Executive Director, Dr. Cheryl L. Eusala met with Atty. Rhaegee Tamaña, Chief of Staff of Sen. Cynthia Villar to pay a courtesy visit and to discuss the need for an increased budget allocation for rubber farmers for Fiscal Year 2025. As the budget season approaches, these efforts underscore the commitment to improving the livelihoods of rubber producers across the country – towards a GOMA-gaang buhay!

GINGOOG, MISAMIS ORIENTAL || Ms. Ma. Nita Roldan, Science Research Analyst (PRRI) And Mr. Glenn Corpuz, Project Assistant II of Crop Management Division (CMD) of the Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) along with a team of agricultural experts, Mr. John Helbert Galili, Agriculturist I (City Agriculture Office of Gingoog) Mr. Rolly Arconada, Agricultural Technician (City Agriculture Office of Gingoog) Mr. Bruce Condeza, Farm Foreman (City Agriculture Office of Gingoog) conducted validation of the list of rubber farmers, assessed the severity of pests and diseases affecting rubber plantations, particularly Pestalotiopsis Leaf Fall Disease (PLFD), coordinated the distribution of agricultural inputs, and facilitated drone operations to capture aerial footage of the rubber plantations last September 11-13, 2024.

Ms. Claire Nova Abdulatip, Senior Science Research Specialist of the Rubber Technology Division (RTESD), participated in a training workshop conducted by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) from September 9-13, 2024, at Technopark Hotel, Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The workshop aimed to enhance the skills of DOST-PCAARRD scholars and researchers, focusing on writing research results for publication in local and international journals recognized by the International Scientific Information (ISI).

PRRI Conducts CAPDEV on Improved Rubber Technology in Tapping Management

𝐏𝐑𝐑𝐈 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐃𝐞𝐯 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨, 𝐀𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐫

The Philippine Rubber Research Institute – Rubber Technology and Extension Services Division (PRRI-RTESD), successfully conducted an extensive Capacity Development Training Program on Improved Technology in Tapping Management for 30 dedicated rubber farmers in Trento, Agusan Del Sur last September 4-5, 2025. RTESD facilitators, Engr. Evangeline Garcia and Mr. Nerio Alap-ap, demonstrated effective rubber tapping techniques during the training.

PRRI would also like to acknowledge the collaboration between the Local Government Unit of Trento, which contributed much to the success of this program.

The course included Evidence-Based Policy Making (June 17-21, 2024), Innovation and Strategic Management (August 5-9, 2024), and Phronetic Leadership (September 2-6, 2024). These training sessions aimed to refine their management skills, aligning them with the national agenda of inclusive and sustainable development.
