October 23, 2024 || Dr. Girlie Rodriguez Saludo, OIC-Chief of Rubber Technology and Extension Services Division represented the Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) at the Cooperative Month Culmination Program held at the Atrium Provincial Capitol in Ipil Heights, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) warmly welcomed a learning visit from project beneficiaries, staff, and representatives of the Lamitan City Local Government Unit, totaling 22 participants. The group was officially welcomed by Ms. Kristine Cubero, Budget Officer/AOIV, while Sir Meynard Abello, Supervising Science Research Specialist at PRRI, conducted an orientation and shared updates on the institute’s initiatives. This visit was part of the WEE-SAFE project, โ€œStrengthening Agri-Fishery Enterprises through Women and Youth Economic Empowerment, Inclusive Business, and Climate Resilience,โ€ a collaboration between KMFI and OXFAM, supported by the European Union’s Bangsamoro AgriEnterprise Program (EU-BAEP).
PRRI is open to everyone interested in learning more about the institute and receiving technical assistance. We are committed to sharing valuable expertise and resources to help individuals deepen their understanding of rubber management and enhance their practices in the rubber industry. Mr. Roman Dagdag from the Crop Management Division of the Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI-CMD) conducted field validation in Monkayo, Davao de Oro, and Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, from October 8-12 and 15-19, 2024. Working in coordination with the City and Municipal Agriculturist Office, Mr. Dagdag and the team assessed farms suspected of having Pesta Leaf Fall Disease (PLFD). Findings revealed moderate to severe infections, with nearly all trees showing signs of infection, accompanied by photo documentation.
PRRI is committed to ensuring that affected farms receive the necessary assistance. Moreover, we would like to extend our gratitude to the cooperative personnel from the Monkayo and Malaybalay Municipal Agricultural offices.

PRRI Hosts 6th Regional Management Committee

The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) successfully hosted the 6th Regional Management Committee (RMC) meeting, defying the heavy outpouring of Tropical Depression Kristine. Various regional heads and stakeholders gathered to present their accomplishments throughout 2024.

PRRI Executive Director Cheryl Lazaga Eusala, alongside Mr. Jack Sandique, showcased products developed through Improved Technology in Rubber Production, highlighting this as PRRIโ€™s flagship program under her leadership at the Aroman Rubber Nursery.

Department of Agriculture XII Regional Executive Director Roberto T. Perales presided over the meeting, which included discussions on updates from various agricultural sectors and plans for the upcoming year.

PRRI is proud to have hosted such a big event, which aims to strengthen the collaboration among stakeholders and enhance the agricultural landscape in the country towards achieving โ€œGoma-gaang Buhay.โ€

EDCLE conducts site visit in Aroman Rubber Nursery

PRRI Executive Director, Dr. Cheryl Lazaga Eusala (EDCLE), conducted a site visit to the PRRI Rubber Nursery to provide proper nursery guidance and personally oversee the farmworkers on the implementation of improved technology in preparation for the upcoming Regional Committee Meeting today – October 22, 2024.

EDCLE aims to showcase the products of this improved technology as the flagship program of PRRI under her leadership to the attending regional directors. During the visit, she also held a meeting with DA-ARES Center Chief Mr. Bing Sultan and Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer Mr. Rey Domingo to discuss the possibility of securing an additional area for the budwood garden, as well as her intention to build a multi-purpose building to facilitate future meetings, training, and other activities.

Director Eusalaโ€™s dream of achieving โ€œGoma-gaang Buhayโ€ for the entire rubber farming community is slowly coming to fruition. The seeds of this vision are being sown day by day, and soon they will sprout in ways we may not even anticipate.
