๐—๐˜‚๐—น๐˜† ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿด-๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฎ, ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฏ – In an effort to advance the rubber industry and fulfill its powers and functions, the Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) recently organized a comprehensive Capacity Development Program focused on Improved Rubber Technology. The need for this program arises from PRRI’s mandate to enable rubber producers and processors, especially smallholders, to have access to quality rubber tree seedlings, modern production techniques, and other support services from production to marketing of rubber produce, as outlined in RA 10089 Section 5(b). The five-day training, which took place at the esteemed Prime Homestead Agri-Ventures Incorporated (PHAVI) Farm, with Lead Trainer, Mr. Alfonso Jack Sandique, President of PHAVI farms, and assisted by National Assessor, Ms. Jenepher Bade, and VPO-RAIDC Agro Division Manager, Mr. Edwin Mayong.
The training led by Trainer Alfonso Jack Sandique, President of PHAVI Farms and assisted by National Assessor Jenepher Bade and VPO – RAIDC Agro Division Manager Edwin Mayong brought together 15 technical staff members from the PRRI. The training program, spanning from July 18-22, covered essential aspects of rubber technology, starting from land preparation to latex harvesting. The sessions delved into innovative techniques and methodologies, aimed at enhancing productivity and overall efficiency in the rubber cultivation process.
The participants engaged in interactive workshops, presentations, and practical demonstrations that allowed them to grasp the nuances of the improved rubber technology thoroughly. The primary objective of this Capacity Development Program was to empower the PRRI technical staff with the latest advancements in rubber cultivation, thereby enabling them to transfer their newfound expertise to rubber farmers across the nation. By disseminating these advancements, the PRRI aims to ultimately boost productivity of rubber trees, making rubber farming in the country efficient and sustainable.
The success of this Capacity Development Program underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in driving innovation and growth in the agricultural sector. With the collective efforts of industry leaders, technical experts, and dedicated professionals, the Philippine rubber industry is poised to reach new heights and contribute significantly to the nation’s economic development.
