October 21-25, 2024 || The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) supported the Department of Agriculture’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Section by providing assistance during their conduct of field validation and monitoring of plans and programs funded under the DA-Quick Response Fund (QRF) aimed at mitigating Pestalotiopsis Leaf Fall Disease (PLFD), which took place in various locations, including Vitali in Zamboanga City, and Naga, Malangas, Kumalarang, Tigbao, Bayog, Titay, Liloy, and Leon Postigo.
PRRI’s remains committed to supporting local farmers in enhancing agricultural resilience in Zamboanga Peninsula – towards a GOMAgaang Buhay.

KIDAPAWAN CITY – October 24, 2025 || Philippine Rubber Research Institute Executive Director, Dr. Cheryl Lazaga Eusala (PRRI-EDCLE) graced the meeting of the Regional Rubber Industry held at Hof Mansion in Balindog, Kidapawan City. Director Eusala took the opportunity to present PRRIโ€™s ongoing programs and projects, emphasizing the production of superior quality planting materials at the PRRI-Aroman Rubber Nursery. Additionally, she acknowledged Cotabato Province’s status as the highest rubber-producing region.
Director Eusala commended the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 12 (DA-RFO12) for their collaboration and she invited all attendees to the upcoming R12 stakeholderโ€™s meeting initiated by PRRI in preparation for the 2026 Budget Proposal.

The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) warmly welcomed a learning visit from project beneficiaries, staff, and representatives of the Lamitan City Local Government Unit, totaling 22 participants. The group was officially welcomed by Ms. Kristine Cubero, Budget Officer/AOIV, while Sir Meynard Abello, Supervising Science Research Specialist at PRRI, conducted an orientation and shared updates on the institute’s initiatives. This visit was part of the WEE-SAFE project, โ€œStrengthening Agri-Fishery Enterprises through Women and Youth Economic Empowerment, Inclusive Business, and Climate Resilience,โ€ a collaboration between KMFI and OXFAM, supported by the European Union’s Bangsamoro AgriEnterprise Program (EU-BAEP).
PRRI is open to everyone interested in learning more about the institute and receiving technical assistance. We are committed to sharing valuable expertise and resources to help individuals deepen their understanding of rubber management and enhance their practices in the rubber industry. Mr. Roman Dagdag from the Crop Management Division of the Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI-CMD) conducted field validation in Monkayo, Davao de Oro, and Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, from October 8-12 and 15-19, 2024. Working in coordination with the City and Municipal Agriculturist Office, Mr. Dagdag and the team assessed farms suspected of having Pesta Leaf Fall Disease (PLFD). Findings revealed moderate to severe infections, with nearly all trees showing signs of infection, accompanied by photo documentation.
PRRI is committed to ensuring that affected farms receive the necessary assistance. Moreover, we would like to extend our gratitude to the cooperative personnel from the Monkayo and Malaybalay Municipal Agricultural offices.
