The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) and the Social Security System (SSS) have officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) in a ceremony held on February 16, 2024, at the PRRI Conference Room, DA-Research Complex, Sanito, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. This initiative was undertaken by the Association of the Philippine Rubber Research Institute Employees (APRRIE) to facilitate those who may wish to avail themselves of its benefits.

Present at the event were signatories; PRRI Executive Director Cheryl Lazaga Eusala, Ph.D., Mr. Rammark B. Monjardin, Administrative Officer IV and Ms. Marnelli T. Pastorfide, SSS Ipil Branch Head. This agreement aims to extend social security protection to Contract of Service (COS), Job Order (JO), and permanent personnel through the ‘KaSSSangga Collect Program.’

The regular remittance of SSS contributions shall make the JO and COS workers qualified for social security benefits such as sickness, maternity, disability, retirement, death, and funeral, as well as benefits under the Employees’ Compensation Program such as sickness, disability, and death. They can also avail of SSS short-term loan privileges such as salary and calamity.

Also, under the MOA, regular or permanent employees who are existing SSS members by virtue of private employment or self-employment may opt to continue paying contributions as voluntary members. SSS has already agreed to extend assistance for the remittance of their preferred monthly SSS contributions.

This agreement marks a significant step forward in the new partnership between PRRI and SSS, ensuring that contractual, job order, and permanent PRRI employees gain access to SSS benefits and loan privileges as active members.

This MOA signing also coincides with the celebration of the Association of PRRI Employees (APRRIE) anniversary, highlighting the institute’s commitment to both employee well-being and social responsibility.
