The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) is actively tackling the threat of Pestalotiopsis Leaf Fall Disease (PLFD) through a technical briefing for local leaders in Brgy. Patin-ay, Agusan del Sur. Held on February 23, 2024, the briefing aimed to equip Local Government Units (LGUs) and Cluster Leaders with the knowledge and tools to combat this devastating disease.
Engr. Evangeline P. Garcia, Training Specialist IV, led the session, providing crucial insights into the history, biology, and control measures of PLFD. Highlighting the potential damage to rubber plantations and production, Engr. Garcia emphasized the importance of good agricultural practices and shared strategies for mitigating the disease. This collaborative effort empowers local leaders to take proactive measures and safeguard their communities’ vital rubber industry.
