Mr. Roman Dagdag from the Science Research Analyst (SRA) spearheaded a field validation initiative targeting farms suspected of experiencing Pesta Leaf Fall Disease (PLFD) from October 8-12 and 15-19, 2024. The validation took place in Monkayo, Davao de Oro, and Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, with participation from municipal agriculturists, rubber focal persons, and local rubber farmers.
During the field visits, Mr. Dagdag conducted courtesy briefings for the personnel of the municipal agricultural office and held profiling sessions with the rubber farmers. The primary objective of this activity was to validate the lists of target beneficiaries submitted by the municipal agricultural offices and to record the severity of PLFD in their respective farms. Additionally, photo documentation was carried out to support the findings and provide visual evidence of the conditions observed.
This initiative underscores the commitment of PRRI to support local farmers and enhance the rubber farming community’s resilience against PLFD, ensuring that appropriate measures can be taken to mitigate the impact of the disease.
