The Philippine Rubber Research Institute – Rubber Technology and Extension Services Division (PRRI-RTESD) conducted a two-day Information Awareness program aimed at empowering rubber farmers with essential knowledge and skills to enhance their Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) in Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur, on September 12-13. The facilitators of this event are: Engr. Evangeline Garcia and Ms. Juliet Biolango.

By introducing improved technology for rubber production, the participants were equipped with practical tools and techniques to boost their productivity and efficiency. The program also addressed critical topics such as Pest and Disease Control and Management, equipping participants with effective tools to safeguard their rubber plantations against debilitating infestations. The program significantly focused on combating the increasingly prevalent Pestalotiopsis Leaf Fall Disease (PLFD), which is a substantial threat to the rubber industry. By integrating these three key components into a concise two-day program, participants will gain a holistic understanding of modern rubber farming practices.

This Capacity Development program marks a significant step forward in addressing the ongoing challenges faced by rubber farmers, ensuring they are well-prepared to adapt to changing agricultural landscapes and improve their livelihoods.
