The PRRI Radio Program entitled, “Mga Programa sa PRRI alang sa mga Mananggotay” airs every week during Mondays at 6:30-7:00 in the morning through DXKT Magik 103 FM Westwind Broadcasting Corporation located at Kitabog Titay Zamboanga Sibugay inside Hofer’s compound. The hosts of this program vary every week depending on the need of the issues to be discussed on such occasion.
This program aims to inform the public about the existing office of the Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI), thereby promoting and bringing awareness for people to be well-acquainted with this particular office. Thus, rubber farmers will be catered pertaining to the issues and problems they encounter on their daily work and in the rubber industry as a whole. This program will address the pressing needs of the rubber farmers and will be used as voice to call attention for increased awareness to help elevate their social standing as diligent workers of the community.
This will provide pertinent information to rubber famers primarily about the existing office of PRRI. Smallholders and rubber farmers who need to have more knowledge and training about growing rubber trees are welcome as target audience of this program. Surrounding towns all over Zamboanga Sibugay (also in some areas of Zamboanga Del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur) that are covered by DXKT Magik 103 FM are counted as audience even for those that are located in far-flung areas.
Topics already discussed were: the Republic Act creating PRRI – RA 10089, how to make rubber nurseries, controlling white root rot disease, updates of the different projects and interview of some of the project leaders. Also included in the program are the announcements and the current price of rubber (SPR and cuplumps). With this information given, the public and especially the rubber farmers will become aware of the programs that PRRI has provided for them.
