October 4, 2024, in Aroman Cotabato || PRRI Executive Director, Dr. Cheryl Lazaga Eusala hosted a get-together with newly appointed Advisory Council Farmer Representative Mr. Joseph Faustino A. Lago and PRRI technical consultants Dr. Choy Mamaril, Dr. Narceo Bajet, and Mr. Jack Sandique. The meeting focused on sharing PRRI updates and discussing the significance of new improved technology in rubber production to tackle long-standing productivity challenges, with a commitment to providing good quality planting materials. The team visited the Prime Homestead Agri Ventures Inc. (PHAVI) farm, where Mr. Sandique showcased a rubber plantation using advanced management techniques, and also at the PRRI nursery, where Director Eusala demonstrated the nursery process to enhance understanding of effective rubber farming practices.

With deep gratitude, PRRI acknowledges President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for his recognition in appointing Mr. Lago as the first-ever Advisory Council Farmer Representative. September 30, 2024 || PRRI Executive Director, Dr. Cheryl Lazaga Eusala, along with the team, made a courtesy visit to the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) in Isabela City, Basilan. During the meeting with Dr. Surhayda T. Aguisanda, the Provincial Agriculturist, PRRI turned over 10,000 polybags for the establishment of an Improved Budwood Garden and Rubber Nursery and also distributed 10,000 polybags for the Latuan Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative (LARBENCO). This delivery also provided the team the opportunity to inspect the designated area for nursery production and ensure its readiness for future agricultural activities.
The PRRI team was composed of an engineer to facilitate irrigation activities and a technical expert specializing in nursery management, underscoring the importance of expert involvement in ensuring the success of the project. The discussions during the visit highlighted the critical role of adopting improved technology in rubber production and fostering future collaborations to enhance agricultural practices in Basilan.
The province has been a key partner in promoting improved agricultural technology, with key stakeholders having been trained in Aroman to ensure that the Package of Technology (POT) of improved rubber production are fully understood and applied.

PRRI Executive Director Inspects Rubber Nursery Following Productive Meeting

Dr. Cheryl L. Eusala, Executive Director III of the Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI), conducted a timely field visit to the PRRI Rubber Nursery in Aroman, Carmen, North Cotabato on August 19, 2024 after a productive meeting with PRRI Aroman staff to ensure nursery’s operations and facilities to ensure its optimal conditions for producing high-quality rubber planting materials. The inspection aimed to identify areas for improvement and provide necessary support to meet the agency’s 2024 targets.
