KABASALAN, Zamboanga Sibugay — The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) facilitated a successful Capacity Development in Improved Technology on Rubber Tapping Management for the Pantawid Beneficiaries. PRRI Executive Director, Dr. Cheryl Lazaga Eusala (EDCLE), conducted a site visit to the PRRI Rubber Nursery to provide proper nursery guidance and personally oversee the farmworkers on the implementation of improved technology in preparation for the upcoming Regional Committee Meeting today – October 22, 2024.
EDCLE aims to showcase the products of this improved technology as the flagship program of PRRI under her leadership to the attending regional directors. During the visit, she also held a meeting with DA-ARES Center Chief Mr. Bing Sultan and Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer Mr. Rey Domingo to discuss the possibility of securing an additional area for the budwood garden, as well as her intention to build a multi-purpose building to facilitate future meetings, training, and other activities.
Director Eusala’s dream of achieving “Goma-gaang Buhay” for the entire rubber farming community is slowly coming to fruition. The seeds of this vision are being sown day by day, and soon they will sprout in ways we may not even anticipate.

PRRI-RTESD Team, led by Mr. Ariel Villar and Mr. Nerio Alap-ap, conducted the final leg of its Capacity Development workshop focused on Tapping Management on October 9-10, 2024. The event was attended by over 25 rubber farmers coming from various barangays in the Marilog District of Davao City.

NORTH COTABATO, August 28-29, 2024 || The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) through the Rubber Technology and Extension Division (RTESD) conducted a Capacity Development training program on Tapping Management in Brgy. New Panay, Aleosan, North Cotabato, attended by 28 rubber farmers. RTESD technical personnel, Mr. Gilbert Rance, Senior Science Research Specialist, together with Ms. Christine Tabaosares provided face-to-face lectures and hands-on demonstrations, allowing participants to practice actual tapping techniques immediately after the session.
Additionally, PRRI distributed starter kits, which included tapping knives, collecting cups, spouts, cup holders, and springs to support the farmers in their practices. Together, para sa GOMA-gaang Buhay!
