In a significant initiative aimed at bolstering the local rubber industry, the Philippine Rubber Research Institute recently conducted a two-day Capacity Development Training for Rubber Farmers in Simbalan, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte, on November 8-9, 2023.
This transformative event brought together 25 enthusiastic participants eager to enhance their skills and knowledge in crucial areas such as Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), Pest and Disease Management, and specifically, the Pesta Leaf Fall Disease (PLFD).
The serene backdrop of Simbalan, Buenavista provided an ideal setting for the farmers to engage in immersive learning and collaborative discussions. The training sessions were designed to equip participants with the latest insights and strategies to optimize their rubber cultivation practices.
The core focus on Good Agricultural Practices addressed sustainable and environmentally friendly methods to boost rubber productivity. Participants delved into effective Pest and Disease Management techniques, gaining valuable insights to protect their rubber plantations from potential threats.
A highlight of the training was the in-depth exploration of the Pesta Leaf Fall Disease (PLFD), a significant concern in rubber farming.
