In a significant effort to enhance intellectual property protection and drive innovation, 23 representatives from various Region IX IPTBM-implementing consortium members under the RAISE Program recently conducted a joint study mission.
This mission brought together esteemed institutions such as JH Cerilles State College (JHCSC), Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU), Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI), Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), and Zamboanga State College of Marine Science and Technology (ZSCMST). From February 4-10, 2024, these institutions actively participated in knowledge exchange, fostering collaboration and paving the way for innovation in Western Mindanao’s research and development.
During the said activity, Engr. Evangeline Garcia, Dr. Girlie Saludo, and Ms. Xela Patrice Pingol representing PRRI participated in productive discussions and orientation sessions with esteemed counterparts from MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), and the University of Southern Mindanao (USM).
These sessions provided invaluable platforms for knowledge exchange, focusing on intellectual property (IP) management, technology transfer, and commercialization. The PRRI team embraced this opportunity to learn from the experiences of other institutions, fostering a collaborative environment that can nurture innovation for the institute.
Headed by program leader Dr. Reynante E. Autida, the joint study mission marks a pivotal step forward in effectively implementing the IPTBM project and driving innovation in the region. The exchange of ideas and experiences among the participating institutions has fostered their commitment to further enhancing intellectual property protection and technology generation.
The valuable insights gained from this study mission will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in fostering a sustained focus on innovation and research excellence, not only within PRRI, but also for the entire Western Mindanao region. By harnessing these insights, the region can nurture a thriving culture of innovation, driving advancements in research. These efforts will contribute to the overall success of the RAISE Program, aligning with the vision for Bagong Pilipinas.
