PRRI Executive Director, Dr. Cheryl Lazaga Eusala (Charming Cle) recently met with Mr. Joel V. De Guzman, General Manager of COTELCO, Inc., at their office in Manubuan, Matalam, Cotabato to discuss the urgent need for electrification of PRRI-Aroman Rubber Nursery yesterday, October 29, 2024. Manager De Guzman responded positively to the request, expressing a commitment to fast-track the electrification process.
This productive meeting is expected to enhance the operational efficiency and productivity of the PRRI-Aroman Rubber Nursery. PRRI extends its gratitude to Manager De Guzman for his wonderful gesture of support.

PRRI with DA-DRRM Conducts Field Monitoring and Surveillance in Basilan
October 22-24, 2024 || The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) led by Dr. Jill Villanueva, the PRRI-DRRM Focal Person assisted the Department of Agriculture’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Section (DA-DRRM) team as they conducted field validation and monitoring of activities funded under Quick Response Fund (QRF) for areas affected by PLFD across the Province of Basilan, BARMM. The joint team visited rubber farmers in Lamitan and Isabela City and also municipalities including Albarka, Akbar, Lantawan, Ungkaya Pukan, Sumisip, and Tipo-Tipo. During the visits, they conducted one-on-one interviews with farmers who had benefited from QRF support and performed thorough site evaluations to assess the effectiveness of the intervention.
Farmers expressed their gratitude for the assistance extended by the Department of Agriculture through PRRI. This proactive approach by PRRI and DA-DRRM only aims to ensure the security of their livelihoods and the health of rubber plantations against emerging threats such as PLFD – tungo sa GOMA-gaang Buhay!

October 21-25, 2024 || The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) supported the Department of Agriculture’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Section by providing assistance during their conduct of field validation and monitoring of plans and programs funded under the DA-Quick Response Fund (QRF) aimed at mitigating Pestalotiopsis Leaf Fall Disease (PLFD), which took place in various locations, including Vitali in Zamboanga City, and Naga, Malangas, Kumalarang, Tigbao, Bayog, Titay, Liloy, and Leon Postigo.
PRRI’s remains committed to supporting local farmers in enhancing agricultural resilience in Zamboanga Peninsula – towards a GOMAgaang Buhay.

PRRI Showcases Programs and Initiatives at Stakeholder Meeting

KIDAPAWAN CITY – October 24, 2025 || Philippine Rubber Research Institute Executive Director, Dr. Cheryl Lazaga Eusala (PRRI-EDCLE) graced the meeting of the Regional Rubber Industry held at Hof Mansion in Balindog, Kidapawan City. Director Eusala took the opportunity to present PRRI’s ongoing programs and projects, emphasizing the production of superior quality planting materials at the PRRI-Aroman Rubber Nursery. Additionally, she acknowledged Cotabato Province’s status as the highest rubber-producing region.
Director Eusala commended the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 12 (DA-RFO12) for their collaboration and she invited all attendees to the upcoming R12 stakeholder’s meeting initiated by PRRI in preparation for the 2026 Budget Proposal.
