Ms. Claire Nova Abdulatip, Senior Science Research Specialist of the The Philippine Rubber Research Institute – Rubber Technology Division (PRRI-RTESD) is currently conducting an assessment today at the Sulo Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SARBEMCO) to evaluate the functionality of a village-level latex processing plant. The facility is initially supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) but is non-operational. Accordingly, the cooperative has decided not to continue with the setup after two years of initial operation.

Mr. Ariel O. Vilar, Senior Science Research Specialist and DRRM Alternate Focal Person Ariel O. Vilar of the Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) participated in a workshop on Basic Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Training for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Personnel Phase II, held in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan from August 26-30, 2024. The training aimed to improve the M&E skills of DRRM personnel from the Department of Agriculture’s regional offices.

PRRIโ€™s participation in this training aims to align with departmental frameworks with national strategies related to response, recovery measures, and disaster risk management throughout the Philippines.

#๐™„๐˜พ๐™”๐™ˆ๐™„ – September 2, 2024 || The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) recently welcomed Ms. Joan Dela Cruz and her colleagues from the Agriculture Credit Policy Council (ACPC) for a visit aimed at helping the rubber farming community by exploring potential credit lines to improve the livelihoods of rubber farmers in the country. During the meeting, Mr. Meynard Abello, Senior Science Research Specialist (SSRS) of the Crop Management Division (CMD) presented the improved technology in rubber production, showcasing promising advancements that could lead to higher income for farmers as compared to the traditional approach.

Two PRRI ICT Staff members, Mr. Glenn Corpuz and Mr. Jose Rico Maรฑalac attended a seminar on Application Programming Interface (API) Development Training (Node.JS and Expres.JS Framework) at Hacienda Gracia Resort Hotel, Lubao, Pampanga on August 27-30, 2024. The training aims to support the digitalization of all DA agencies and bureaus that aligns with the DA Secretary’s mandate to harmonize data across the Department of Agriculture.
