PRRI Technical Staff Attends Rubber Industry Meeting

Mr. Jess Bryan Alvariño represented the Philippine Rubber Research Institute at the Semestral Meeting of Key Players and Stakeholders of the Rubber Industry. The meeting was organized by the Department of Agriculture – Caraga through the High Value Crops Development Program in Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur on August 20, 2024.
Participants of the said event discussed and addressed issues and challenges facing the rubber industry. Mr. Alvariño presented the updates and interventions for the region and its vital role in conducting research and providing technical assistance to the rubber industry stakeholders.

PRRI Executive Director Inspects Rubber Nursery Following Productive Meeting

Dr. Cheryl L. Eusala, Executive Director III of the Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI), conducted a timely field visit to the PRRI Rubber Nursery in Aroman, Carmen, North Cotabato on August 19, 2024 after a productive meeting with PRRI Aroman staff to ensure nursery’s operations and facilities to ensure its optimal conditions for producing high-quality rubber planting materials. The inspection aimed to identify areas for improvement and provide necessary support to meet the agency’s 2024 targets.

PRRI Conducts Capacity Building Training on Rubber Tapping

DAVAO CITY || The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) has recently conducted a Capacity Development Training for Improved Rubber Production Technology, with emphasis on tapping management. The training was facilitated by the extension arm of PRRI – the Rubber Technology and Extension Services Division (RTESD). Led by Mr. Ariel Villar and Mr. Nerio Alap-ap, the training took place in Laak, Davao De Oro from August 12 to 16, 2024. The primary objective of the training is to improve the tapping skills among rubber cultivators towards more efficient and sustainable practices para sa “GOMA-gaang buhay” ng ating mga rubber farmers!

PRRI Participates in Seaweed and Rubber Tripartite Council Meeting

Representing the Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI), Dr. Girlie Saludo attended an online, hybrid meeting of the Seaweed and Rubber Tripartite Council thru Zoom platform on August 15, 2024. The meeting convened all labor and management representatives to promote a discussion of major programs and emerging services that are keys in achieving the goals of the council.
The event took place in hybrid mode, with both on-site and online participation. The on-site meeting occurred at 4th floor Acacia Hall 2, LM Metro Hotel in Tetuan Zamboanga City.

PRRI Staff Undergoes Financial Analysis Training

Two PRRI Staff participated in the Ladderized Training on Project Development for Agriculture and Fisheries Rural Development. This training is a partnership between the Project Development Service (PDS) with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Participants are expected to develop project proposals for the agri-fishery sector.
As PRRI representatives, Mr. Ronie Magdua and Ms. Ma. Nita Roldan were sent for the said event. The ladderized training has three sessions with two batches coming from various DA-Operating Units (OUs). For this 2nd session, they underwent Financial Analysis training. Session 1 was about Technical Writing on Project Proposal Preparation and Session 3 is about Economic Analysis. Overall, the event aimed to reinforce DA’s institutional capacity in project development and evaluation.
