September 11-13, 2024 || The Philippine Rubber Research Institute – Crop Management Division (PRRI-CMD), represented by Mr. Kim Gonzales and Ms. Kerl Teves, conducted a re-evaluation of PLFD-infected plantations treated under the Quick Response Fund (QRF) following a courtesy visit to the Municipal Agriculturists of Trento, Ms. Deolita D. Abadillo, and Bunawan, Engr. Rey S. Epaรฑola, in Agusan del Sur.

The purpose of the re-evaluation was to monitor, validate findings in the field, and document the results. The team utilized drone technology to capture aerial footage of the affected areas, assessing the incidence of Pestalotiopsis Leaf Fall Disease (PLFD) impacting local rubber plantations, which included seven plantations in Trento and six in Bunawan.

This observation occurred nine months after treatment applications were implemented. The activity stems from the initiative of the PRRI Executive Director, Dr. Cheryl Eusala to gauge the disease’s impact and to further develop effective management strategies for local rubber producers.
