The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI), led by our dedicated Executive Director Cheryl Lazaga Eusala, recently hosted a successful webinar series on the topic of “Rubber Pests and Diseases.” This event was organized by the Next Generation of Natural Rubber Experts (NextGeNRE), a specialist group operating under the International Rubber Research and Development Board (IRRDB), spearheaded by Mr. Jess Bryan Alvariรฑo, Sr. Science Research Specialist and the Liaison Officer of NextGeNRE (IRRDB Youth Specialist Group). The webinar featured expert speakers on rubber insect pests and diseases from various IRRDB member countries, including Dr. Jill Villanueva from PRRI, who serves as the Officer-in-Charge of the Crop Management Division (CMD).
Participants included representatives from different organizations – research institutes, cooperatives, national agencies, and universities. This event provided an invaluable platform for rubber stakeholders to learn about the latest advancements in rubber pest and disease management, as well as to network and connect with fellow experts in this field.
We believe that by empowering these next generation of rubber experts and fostering international cooperation, we are positioned to have a great impact on the rubber sector’s long-term sustainability and resilience towards a GOMA-gaang buhay!
