Philippine Rubber Research Institute Executive Director, Dr. Cheryl Lazaga Eusala, recently conducted a site visit in the PRRI Rubber Nursery on October 21, 2024 for proper nursery guidance and personally oversee and guide the farmworkers on the progress of the implementation of the improved technology in time for the tour as part of the Regional Committee Meeting to be held on October 22, 2024.
She aims to showcase the products of improved technology as the flagship program of PRRI under her leadership to the other regional directors who will be attending the said meeting, emphasizing that the improved technology not only produces healthy and superior rubber seedlings that are disease resilient but also has increased latex yield compared to traditional farming practices.
Later in the afternoon, EDCLE conducted a meeting with the DA-ARES Center Chief Mr. Bing Sultan and Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer Mr Rey Domingo as she seeks for an additional area for the budwood garden, she also expressed her intention to build a multi-purpose building.
According to the director, this multi-purpose building will be used to host and provide a conducive environment for future stakeholder meetings, training, and other activities in line with bureau’s initiatives.
This initiative aims to help the bureau in strengthening the rubber industry and assist small scale rubber farmers towards “Goma-gaang Buhay.”
