NORTH COTABATO, August 28-29, 2024 || The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) successfully conducted a capacity development training program focused on tapping management in Brgy. New Panay, Aleosan, North Cotabato. The event was attended by 28 local rubber farmers eager to enhance their skills and knowledge in the industry.
RTESD technical personnel, Mr. Gilbert Rance, Senior Science Research Specialist, together with Ms. Christine Tabaosares from PRRI led the training, which included face-to-face lectures that covered the essential principles of effective tapping management. Participants engaged in hands-on demonstrations, allowing them to apply the techniques in real-time. This practical experience provided the farmers with the confidence and skills needed for successful tapping.
In addition to the training, PRRI supported the farmers by distributing starter kits that included essential tools such as tapping knives, collecting cups, spouts, cup holders, and springs. This initiative aims to empower local farmers and improve rubber production practices in the region, fostering a more sustainable and productive rubber industry.
